Municipal buildings should employ people, firefighters and teachers should be jobs that cims can take. Buildings that matter in more than one way.One thing Maxis did get right (and have always done well) is this sort of thing. Basically a way of exposing the simulation data to the player in a useful and intuitive way. A reworked UI with better filtering and data views, including a "route planner" so I could see how cims were getting from one place to another and what they were doing when they were there."Non negotiable" makes it sound quite demanding, and after all I'm just some guy, I don't own you.īut if you want to know things I would, well, be disappointed if they weren't in, that aren't just "wishes" but would feel like missed opportunities: OK so also maybe military bases and other "federal events" would also be cool. A little like battleplans for HOI, a masterplan toolset would enable the player to lay out broad plans for the long term future long before any actual placement of zones/roads etc. The one truly new thing I would love in a citybuilder is a "city masterplan suite". Many wishlist things are simply enrichment of features to these essentials. + awesome design / UI / music / colour, but how that happens in detail eg weather, day/night, traffic etc i defer to the experts! + power system with power-plants that can grow + decent water / waste management system (possibly this could be given effect via policies and minimal buildings) + parks, museums, town hall, and other public facilities with all their awesomeness and inter-relationship with policies + police / fire / ambulance buildings and vehicles again excellent to have multiple pathways in each service + multifaceted education but also pathways for private education to grow + public commercial facilities terminals, ports, airports, tourist centres - but also possibilities for private enterprise to develop these + public transport no doubt already very well accommodated though pedestrian malls and bikeways would be awesome + roads if we get even 30% what everyone else is asking I would be OK with that

+ 2d zones system residential/commercial/industrial/farm/tech/special plus light/medium/heavy + overlays! (reports and graphs OK too) but. + policies by department sanitation/utilities, safety/health, education, transport, commerce/tourism, heritage/environment Maybe there should be a separate "non-negotiables" thread for this type of list: So i guess this wishlist is for core stuff to work well. When I think wishlist, i realise after the first 50/100/200 hours of playing a game, the "quirky fun things" you once put on a wishlist can be completely overshadowed if something a core citybuilder trait is missing. Some users may prefer East Asian as the default, and Colonial/ Agnostic for pockets of city. But I think some users may want Mediterranean as the default, and Scandinavian or Arabic as districts. I like CO's idea of standard universal-modern buildings style with aesthetically more specific cultural districts on the side. I would also like to propose, users get to choose their Default Global Building Culture. I agree it would certainly be cool to have a policy: culture: Agnostic, that ignores all cultural categories.īeyond that, "controlled randomization" will be so specific it may as well be done by plopping individual buildings one by one? But yes it would be nice to have SimCity/ CXL style individual building plopping without having to launch the map editor. If you're talking about random on the fly selection of a mix of cultural style for a certain zone.

After zoning, make district, assign policy:culture, drop list to scroll to select your new "Eclectic" culture, so only residence/commerse/industry buildings you have assigned under Eclectic will show up in that zone. Say, culture parameters may include CSL Standard, European, East Asian, Mediterranean or 'Make Your New Category'. OF course, this presumes users have access to that parameter, I imagine, either in game, or via the game editor. My suggestion based on the confirmed Policies by District should easily take care of that - assuming all buildings come ready with a parameter for "cultural assignment".
